The costs associated with replacing conventional catalyst withdrawal valves worn and distorted by hot catalyst surging through a catalyst withdrawal system have been plaguing refineries for years. Conventional valves have had limited resistance to erosion conditions that occur when catalyst goes from ambient temperatures to 1300 degrees. To deal with the problem, refineries have been stacking and replacing valves frequently, even before scheduled turnarounds, in a make-shift effort to withstand the distortion and erosion caused by extreme variations in catalyst temperature and thermal shock.
TapcoEnpro hardfacing resists temperature extremes
Our catalyst withdrawal valve series includes a primary shutoff valve, a control valve and a final shutoff valve, each hard-faced that exhibits superior resistance to extreme variations in temperature. As a result, the distortion problem, common with conventional valves that must withstand lower temperatures on one side of the valve and higher temperatures on the other, is minimized with our catalyst withdrawal valves.
Precise throttle control
The control valve, mounted in-line down- stream, throttles the catalyst until the desired amount has been withdrawn. The stem knuckle and the nose of the disc are tapered to lift and torque seat the disc against the seat plate in the closed position. In this position, the control valve can also act as a shutoff feature to further enhance flow control. Because the throttle valve is more prone to wear than any other valve in the catalyst withdrawal system, TapcoEnpro has designed the valve with replaceable internal parts. The replaceable internal parts extend the life of the control valve body through several turnarounds and allows reconditioning of valve internals during the turnaround.The TapcoEnpro catalyst withdrawal valves are offered with four operating actuator systems: manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, or a combination. The preferred method of actuator for the shut-off valve is the pneumatic or hydraulic system which ensures complete on/off services with the push of a button. The TapcoEnpro catalyst valve system can also be used in a number of other catalyst applications including: catalyst sampling, transfer lines and catalyst dumping. Wherever catalyst erosion resistance and positive shutoff are required, the TapcoEnpro series is superior to other products.
